In some cases, certificates were sent directly to students from the IGNOU Headquarters, specifically for those who completed Certificate Programs or Postgraduate Certification Programs.
However, it has come to light that many students who completed their degrees or diplomas by December 2022 and June 2023 have yet to receive their certificates. If you are one of these students, you can now apply for your certificate through the online registration process on the official IGNOU website.
Instructions for Online Registration
IGNOU has outlined specific guidelines for students applying for online certification registration:
- Only students who completed their program by June 2023 are eligible for this online registration process.
- Applications for certification must be submitted solely through the online registration portal.
- Students applying for Bachelor’s, Master’s, Diploma, or Post Graduate Diploma certifications need to pay a fee (if not previously paid). This fee does not apply to students seeking certification for Certificate or PG Certificate programs.
- Before applying, students should verify their certification status with their respective Regional Centres.
- For queries regarding Post Graduate and Certificate Program certifications, students can directly contact the IGNOU headquarters via email at convocation@ignou.ac.in.
Steps to Register on the Portal
If you haven’t received your certification, follow these steps to apply online:
Step 1: Visit the portal at IGNOU Online Services. After reading the instructions, tick the box at the bottom, and click “I Agree and Proceed.”
Step 2: At the bottom of the page, select the program type (Degree/Diploma or Certificate) for which you want the certification.
Step 3: You will be redirected to a new page based on your program selection.
Step 4: Click on “New Student Registration” to begin the registration process.
Step 5: Fill in your details, such as your enrollment number, and complete the registration process.
Step 6: Once registered, log in using your enrollment number and password.
Step 7: Provide the required information as prompted on the page.
Step 8: Upload necessary documents, including your IGNOU ID card and grade card, in JPG format (no larger than 100 KB).

Step 9: If you’re applying for Bachelor’s, Master’s, Diploma, or Post Graduate Diploma certifications, you will need to pay the applicable fee (if not paid earlier).
Step 10: After completing all steps, print the acknowledgment of your registration for your records.
Fees for Online Registration
IGNOU has categorized the fees as follows:
- Certificate and Post Graduate Certificate Programs: Rs 200 for online registration.
- Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, Diploma, and Post Graduate Diploma Programs: Rs 600 for registration.
Payments can be made using debit or credit cards from any bank, or through internet banking. Registration will only be confirmed after the fee payment. Be sure to print the acknowledgment as proof of your payment and registration completion.

Once your registration is complete, you will be notified about the upcoming convocation where your certificate will be awarded. For certain programs, certificates will be distributed during the convocation event, while for others, the authorities will send the certificates directly to candidates via post.
